FAMILY WEEKEND AT TAMUG (10/13/17 & 10/14/17):

Family Weekend is an event that welcomes all family members of our student body to TAMUG. Family members are able to see and interact with students, attendees, and participate in a variety of events that showcase TAMUG.  There are numerous activities that include presentations, student organization performances, campus tours and boat rides just to name a few.  Please refer to TAMUG’s website for updates as we near the date for registration information including info to order Family Weekend t-shirts which are picked up the day of arrival.

SURVIVAL KITS (11/13/17 & 04/09/18):

GCAM assembles a “Survival Kit” that is distributed to your student right before semester finals, one being in November and the other in April.  We text and/or call your Aggie when the kit is ready to be picked up (or your student can ask a friend to pick up if they are unavailable).  The kits are ordered from GCAM by the parents as a gift to their student to encourage them to do well in finals. The suggested donation is $35 - $40 (your choice of donation) per kit.  The Fall 2017 Finals Survival Kit is pictured with all of the items shown under our Store tab.  You may pay online but will need to print out the order form and mail it to the address noted on the form, or you may print out the form and mail it with your check.  The option to pay online or mail a check is your choice but the form must be mailed in with either option.  If you have any questions, please contact our Chairman, Tuija Walsh at


Are you a crafty Aggie Mom?  Then this is for you!  This year’s 2017 TAMUG Staff Holiday Craft Fair is scheduled for Friday, December 1st (10am - 2pm) in the Sea Aggie Center.  Our club participates in this craft show by selling Aggie themed Christmas tree ornaments, holiday decorations, holiday cards, yard signs, Aggie themed jewelry, etc.  All items are made and donated by our GCAM parents!  They are either hand delivered or can be mailed by those parents who cannot attend but want to contribute. Pictures of last year’s items are posted on our Facebook page. Our goal is to set the price of each item so that they are affordable to the students.  If you would like to donate items or have any questions, please contact Dalinda Dugal, Chairman for this event, at All items are needed by no later than November 25th.  There will be a sign-up sheet closer to this event for those who want to help sell our items at the fair.

MIDNIGHT MUNCHIES (12/03/17 & 04/29/18):

In an effort to support the students during finals, we prepare and provide a warm breakfast meal late in the evening while the kids are studying in the library.  There are four ways to participate: 1) help set-up and serve, 2) donate food, 3) donate money to help us buy the ingredients needed to make hundreds of breakfast tacos, and/or 4) be a part of the cooking team.  This is a very fun event as the kids are thankful and happy for the break from their studies.  A sign-up sheet for this event will be posted closer to the event dates.

THE BIG EVENT (03/23/18 & 03/24/18):

Since its introduction in 1982 in College Station, “Big Event” has become the largest, one-day, student run service project in the nation. Whoop! The tradition started on the Galveston campus in 1994. Thousands of Aggies come together on this one day to say “Thank You” and show their appreciation to the communities of College Station and Galveston by giving back.  Aggies volunteer to perform various service projects that consist of yard work, planting trees, cleaning beaches, window washing, painting, etc. Our GCAM club has the privilege of preparing lunches for the Aggies working this event at the Galveston campus. In 2016, we prepared 550+/- lunches.  Parent participation is a must and needed. Here are ways you can help:

1. Make a monetary donation on our website under Store tab and enter "Big Event" in blank . Donations go towards lunch items needed.

2. Sign-up on our website under the Volunteer tab to help pack lunches on either Friday night and/or Saturday morning, and deliver lunches to work sites located on the island on Saturday.

3. If you have connections to local grocery stores, we look for donations in bulk for the following items: 200 bananas, 200 apples, 200 oranges, 600 bags of cookies, 600 bags of chips, 600 hamburger buns.

MUSTER (04/21/18):

Muster is a time set aside to honor Aggies who have died since the Muster ceremony the previous year and is one of Texas A&M University’s most solemn and visible traditions. No matter where Aggies are, no matter in what state or foreign country, whether they are as few as two or as many as the thousands, they come together each April 21st for Muster. Many former students return to campus for Muster, among them those who graduated 50 years before and also hold a special class reunion the weekend of. Each year Texas A&M University at Galveston holds Muster at its campus, at the McCloy Arena in the P.E. Facility. Our club is honored with the privilege of hosting a social afterwards in the Flag Room by providing and serving food, snacks and desserts. A sign-up sheet will be posted under the Volunteer tab for members to sign-up if they wish to donate a dish as we get closer to the event.
